New Nebraska FFA Foundation Web Site Designed to Engage Past FFA Members

LINCOLN, NE—If you’re a past FFA member in Nebraska, there’s a new web site that allows you to stay in touch with what’s happening in Nebraska FFA—and support FFA activities with your financial contribution.

The Nebraska FFA Foundation has launched a robust new website at www.neffafoundation.org which provides up to date information on foundation initiatives and serves as a way for past FFA members to reconnect with the organization that was an important part of their lives.  The site is sponsored by Nebraska Farm Bureau.

Past FFA members and other FFA supporters are invited to register online to receive e-mail updates on FFA activities, electronic newsletters, opportunities for involvement and other news related to Nebraska FFA.  Through the “True Blue Initiative,” the foundation is working to register as many past Nebraska FFA members as possible.

One of the unique features of the site is the ability for former FFA members to share a “True Blue Memory”—a brief story about their personal FFA experience.  “Every time I talk with a past FFA member, I hear a great story,” said Tammy Meyer, executive director of the Nebraska FFA Foundation. “We wanted to give people the opportunity to share their memories on the site and let others see just how much impact FFA has had the lives of those who participated.”  Several True Blue Memories have already been posted to the site—and visitors who register with the FFA Foundation have the opportunity to share a memory when they register, or at anytime thereafter.

Other features of the site include details on sponsorship opportunities, updates on FFA activities in Nebraska, and an online newsletter.

Within the next few weeks, the site will also have the capability to accept online contributions.  “The primary mission of the Nebraska FFA Foundation is to raise funds to support a wide range of Nebraska FFA activities,” Meyer added.  “We have had a number of people express an interest in making contributions through our website.”  In the meantime, the site includes a download form that can be used to make a contribution by check or credit card.

A number of contribution opportunities exist from convention sponsorships to leadership programming to award programs.   For just $60, a donor can help a deserving student purchase the traditional blue FFA jacket.  “Through the foundation, donors of every level can find a way to support the leadership and educational programs offered through Nebraska FFA,” Meyer added.

Presently, there are more than 130 FFA chapters in Nebraska with nearly 6,600 FFA members.  More than half of the 254 schools in Nebraska have agriculture education and FFA.

Established in 1990, the Nebraska FFA Foundation’s mission is to enhance quality agricultural education/FFA programs in order to achieve excellence in leadership development, curriculum innovation and scholastic advancement of students.
