Nebraska Celebrated National FFA Week

Nebraska FFA Chapters are celebrated National FFA Week, February 20-27, with show stopping performances! The theme for the week - “Lead Out Loud” - challenged FFA members nationwide to show off what makes them premier leaders in their schools and communities. More than half a million FFA members from across the nation participated in National FFA Week, which is held the last week of February in honor of President George Washington’s birthday. From breakfasts for school teachers and administrators to petting zoos for elementary students, each Nebraska chapter uniquely celebrated the week, but all showcased how they “Lead Out Loud.”

Johanns’ Resolution Honors 40 Years of Women in FFA

Senator Mike Johanns today led a bipartisan effort in the Senate to commemorate 40 years of membership by women in the Future Farmers of America, now known as the National FFA organization. A Johanns-led resolution passed in the Senate by unanimous consent on Wednesday night.

Lextron Animal Health Presents Check to Nebraska FFA

A busy week of business and industry tours by the Nebraska FFA state officers, August 3-7, yielded a welcomed bonus from Lextron Animal Health. Lextron, located in Columbus, Neb., presented the officers with a check for $905 earned from a nationwide program sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health.

Stuart FFA Officers Venture to COLT

On Thursday May 28th the Stuart FFA Officer Team packed up and hit the road. What was their destination? The answer is the Leadership Center in Aurora Nebraska, to take part in COLT Conference. But what does COLT stand for? Chapter Officer Leadership Training is exactly what COLT stands for and Nebraska’s new State and Chapter FFA Officers attend COLT to do just that, gain training.

Three Nebraskans Win National FFA Risk Management Essay Contest

Ten winning Risk Management essays were selected by National FFA. Nebraska had three winning student essays on understanding the principles of risk management and how to select the proper strategies to minimize risk and maximize returns. Congratulations to all the winners, including Nebraska students Thomas Bader of Gresham, Brandon Essink of Syracuse, and Mitchell Ross of Dunbar.

The genuine kindness of native Nebraskan Gary Scharf is imprinted on all those who knew him and have come to know him since his death in December 2007, a victim of an Omaha mall-shooting. Scharf’s uncommon zeal for helping others will soon be honored by the Nebraska FFA Foundation with the “Gary Scharf Helping Hand Award.”

FFA chapters across the state are celebrating National FFA Week, February 21-28, in style! The theme for the week - “Step Up and Stand Out” – challenges FFA members nationwide to actively participate in fun activities that promote FFA and agricultural education. For more than 60 years, FFA Week has been held the last week of February in honor of President Washington’s birthday. Every chapter is doing something different. A few examples come from the Hartington, Centennial and Crofton High School FFA chapters.
